　　ITALY TO FURTHER LIBERALIZE ITS ONLINE BINGO MARKET

　　The Italian online gambling regulator AAMS announced that it will propose a series of changes to the country's online gambling laws in order to permit online bingo operators to offer various side-games as well.

　　Italy's online gambling regulator AAMS estimates that the Italian online bingo market deceased with as much as a third in 2012 due to the incomplete liberalization of the online bingo market. As such, the regulator will propose a series of changes that would give online bingo operators more money making opportunities.

　　The AAMS intends to implement a series of new rules that would permit online bingo sites to offer various side games, such as online slots, as well besides their normal online bingo games. The regulator will decide on the final measures after a consultation period in February. The new regulations are planned to be implemented sometimes during mid-2013.

　　The AAMS hopes that new and loosened regulations will allow online bingo operators to recover the revenues they lost in the past. The regulator also hopes that the availability of various side games will make regulated online bingo sites more attractive to players.

　　Industry observers believe that at this moment Italy is missing out substantial tax revenues from online bingo because many players prefer to play at unregulated operators since these operators aren't subjected to the current gameplay restrictions in the country.

　　Eliminating the currently existing （unreasonable） restrictions would encourage Italians to play at licensed online bingo rooms which in turn would ensure more tax revenue for the state. Likewise, more liberal regulations would also determine many unlicensed operators to come clean and apply for a valid Italian license.

　　The new regulation proposal comes after the implementation of a series of other regulations last December that allowed online bingo operators to offer additional services. According to the new rules implemented last December, Italian online bingo rooms are able to offer larger jackpots as well as sell more expensive bingo tickets.

　　The addition of side-games such as online slots to online bingo rooms is expected to further increase the profitability of online bingo companies which in turn will also increase the tax income the state will be able to cash in.
