The Danish Gambling Authority (SKAT) updated its online gaming blacklist with eight new websites. According to the DGA, the operators in question refused to apply for a gaming license but continue to offer their services in the country.

Be included in the betting blacklist website eight online website, are no brand gambling website, these sites some even are not real game suppliers, is to redirect the player the actual game site.

The Gambling Authority explained that it requested the affected operators to either apply for a license or leave the Danish gaming market. After the operators in question refused to comply, the DGA decided to blacklist them.

As a consequence of this decision, all Danish ISPs are forced to block citizens' access to the mentioned websites. The first ISP to receive the blocking order was "3". The ISP has 14 days at its disposal to block citizens' access to the affected websites.

This is the second crackdown conducted by the Danish Gambling Authority on unlicensed operators. This June the DGA ordered the blacklisting of 12 operators including renowned names such as Titan Poker and Betclic Everest subsidiary Bet-At-Home.

At that time "3" announced that it would honor the request made by the authorities but it's not particularly happy to enforce internet censorship. Denmark is the second EU country after Belgium to implement policies that can be considered internet censorship in regards to online gaming.

On January 1st 2012 a new online gaming law entered into force in Denmark. The new online gaming law requires licensed operators to pay a 20% tax on gross revenues generated in the country. This tax rate is very advantageous to operators considering that land-based casinos are taxed between 45% and 75%.

Since January 2012 several dozen online gaming operators including PokerStars, 888.com and bwin.party managed to acquire a license in the country. Still, many other operators decided not to apply for a license in order to avoid paying taxes.

The DGA reports that there are still many unlicensed operators in the country. Those operators that won't apply for a license will be banned and won't have the chance to apply for a license ever in the future.
