DOJ CONFIRMS TAKEOVER OF ABSOLUTE POKER AND ULTIMATE BET SOFTWARE

The U.S. justice department announced on September 21, court documents show department now has software and player's E-mail address, at present already there is not absolute online poker sites poker and finally bets software.

The released DoJ files indicate that the Department of Justice has requested the South Korean software company Quad Dimensions to hand over the software of Absolute Poker and UB. Quad Dimensions was the long-time software provider of Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker.

DoJ attorney Jason H. Cowley just confirmed that the software was transferred to US authorities last week by the South Korean company. Cowley also explained that CEO of Quad Dimensions Young Jae "Christian" Lee gave a declaration that renounces any claims on the software.

The Department of Justice indicated that it intends to sell the software of the two poker rooms to a third party online gaming company. Cowley explained that the sale of the assets would be conducted by the Complex Asset Unit of the US Marshals Service.

According to Cowley, the Complex Asset Unit of the US Marshals Service is "specifically purposed with managing and selling complex business assets and has the discretion to design a sale to maximize market value, including the authority to retain third-party advisers and brokers to market and sell the Absolute Poker Assets."

The DoJ indicated a few weeks ago that it intends to sell the assets of Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet with the intention of repaying former players and fulfilling the poker rooms' outstanding financial obligations to third party contractors.

Industry observers however fear that if this process will take too much time, it will not end with success. The main concern is the declining value of the assets as time goes by. The AP/UB software might become highly outdated compared to other room's software as time passes and technology progresses.

Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet were shut down by the US DoJ on April 15th 2011 along with Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. From these rooms only PokerStars managed to recover and compensate its US players.

PokerStars went on to take over Full Tilt and intends to re-launch it this November. Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet are defunct ever since and it becomes increasingly implausible that a third party will be interested to take over the venture's assets.

If the DoJ won't be able to sell the assets of the two poker rooms at a reasonable price, former US players of these rooms will not be able to recover any of their money still locked in their player accounts.
