　　Las Vegas casino owner and magnate Sheldon Adelson has recently announced his plan to build a new land-based casino themed after Paris in Macau. Sheldon Adelson is considered as one the biggest opponents of legalized US online gambling.

　　Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands land-based casino plans to build a new casino in Macau that will be themed after Paris. The new casino will feature various Parisian landmarks such as a 50% scale-to-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower and others.

　　Adelson commented that the estimated costs for the construction of the new Parisian casino will be around $2.5 - $3 billion. Besides the Parisian landmarks, the new casino will also include a huge 3,000 room hotel with a large number of gaming lounges and tables.

　　Macau is already generating the bulk of Adelson's revenue and the new expansion intends to further increase Adelson's Asian profits. Adelson believes that investing in Asian gambling is more profitable than investing in the US because the Asian gambling market is still underdeveloped.

　　Adelson has several other expansions in mind that will include casinos and hotels in various countries such as Japan, Korea, Spain, and Vietnam. In Madrid, Adelson plans to build another huge expansion, the Euro Vegas Hotel and Casino.

　　Sheldon Adelson is one of the wealthiest American entertainment and gambling moguls. He's also one of the strongest opponents of legalized online gambling and online poker in the States. While most other casino owners have embraced the idea of legalized internet poker, Adelson still vehemently campaigns against this practice.

　　Not so long ago, Adelson has donated a total sum of $70 million to the presidential campaign of Mitt Romney and said he could go up as high as $100m if necessary. This is one of the largest contributions made by a private person to one of the candidates in this year's presidential election.

　　While there are certainly many motives behind this donation, it's highly likely that Adelson's grudge against online gambling is one of them. Just recently during the Republican National Convention, the Party released an official manifesto that - not surprisingly - calls for a total ban on all kinds of online gambling activities in the United States.
