　　This week the Danish Gaming Authority extended the licenses of 25 online casino, poker and sports betting companies. Surprisingly, 888.com was not among these ventures.

　　Last year the Danish Gaming Authority issued a number of real money online gaming licenses to various international companies. The licenses were valid for a year only and as such they had to be extended early this month.

　　25 of the companies that were awarded a license in January 2012 have applied for an extension which was granted by the Gaming Authority this week. These ventures include renowned names such as bwin.party, Betfair, bet365, PokerStars and others.

　　888.com however appears to have refused to apply for a license and as such is expected to terminate its services in Denmark in the near future. So far it's not known why the company decided to leave the country and it appears that it won't make an official statement about the matter either.

　　This is surprising because 888 is at this moment one of the largest real money online gambling providers in Europe. It's also one of the fastest growing gaming companies investing heavily in marketing and expansion, making its decision to leave Denmark seem even stranger.

　　One potential reason for this decision could be the fact that 888 is at this moment heavily focusing on larger markets such as Spain and Italy. 888 is at this moment one of the largest operators in the newly regulated Spanish market due to heavy investments in the country. Also, the regulated Danish market is very small in comparison to other European markets.

　　Recently 888.com also shut down its online poker operations in France due to the unfavorable regulatory environment in the country. According to French laws, online poker operators are obliged to separate their French players from their international players. This made online poker extremely unpopular in the country.

　　At this moment all the services offered by 888 are still available in Denmark but the company is now effectively operating without a license. 888 will either cease offering its services in Denmark or it might be blacklisted and banned by Danish authorities.
