　　Atlantic City continues to be hit hard by growing competition in neighboring states after taking in only $308.2 million in July, a 9.5 percent drop in year-over-year figures.

　　The city’s 12 properties were hurt by an unfavorable July calendar that saw one less weekend this year. The Borgata Casino Hotel & Spa, normally one of the better performers in the area, lost a reported $5 million to one individual gambler alone.

　　The bright side of the report was that Atlantic City’s newest casino property, Revel, increased its take from $14.9 million in June to $17.5 million in July, thanks to gains in both slot machine and table games revenue. However, Revel’s numbers still rank eighth in the city overall.

　　Only two casinos, the Golden Nugget and the Tropicana Casino & Resort, are having a better 2012 than 2011.
